Videographer Evan Kovacs got his start as underwater cameraman for 30 episodes of the Deep Sea Detective series on the History Channel. He now travels around the world as a freelance underwater photographer, traveling to wherever the next project takes him. Recently he has worked closely with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute conducting deep sea research, and was a member of the SEAS Cruise 2007, working with the High-Definition camera systems on Alvin, an underwater submersible.
He has worked as assistant cameraman on History Channel's "Conquest of America," and shot second camera for the History Channel's Titanic's Final Moments: Missing Pieces. Prior to working in television, Evan worked for nearly 10 years in the NYC theatre and events scene as a lighting designer, production manager and sometimes actor. Of this career change he says, "I started as an actor and ended up at sea 12 years later. Life can lead you anywhere if you let it."
